HOLLOW CAST TOTEMS
Philadelphia, PA

M. Arch Principles of Digital Fabrication // Critic: Michael Avery
Team Members: David Forero, Karen Vankovich, Robert I. Romo

This project emerged from an exploration into different digital fabrication methods, including 3D printing, casting, and molding. The goal of the project was to create an installation piece that demonstrated an innovative approach to combining these existing techniques and introducing something novel to the process.
Photos of the casting process. Multiple materials and casting processes were tried to achieve the objects, including resin, concrete, wax, and plaster.
To achieve the hollow and weightless effect of the objects, a rotational molding machine was built for this project.
